Fernand Léger (February 4, 1881 – August 17, 1955) was a French painter and sculptor. In his early works he was influenced by impressionism but he soon went beyond it and created a personal form of cubism which he gradually modified into a more figurative, geometric style which the critics described as “Tubism”.
